Art Identity
When I started looking for art that would illustrate the identity that is shown in my narrative essay, I was looking for something caring, protective, or nurturing. I had difficultly at first finding things, but when i started to open up to more abstract ideas, the paintings and sculptures were found much more easily.
The man standing with the sword seems vigilant, and protective of his home, which ties in with my protective identity towards my mother. The second, the sculpture of tumbling blocks, shows the disarray that is found in response to my mothers illness, it shows the confusion and struggle in my identity. The final picture shows a man helping another, which i feel shows compassion for those in worse positions than you. which I think follows my identity as compassionate.
